Missionary Week

It's missionary week for the big boys. They were supposed to wear thier church clothes to school this week and the teenager (Quincy) doesn't believe in that, here is Jake on his way to school after waking up and studying his scriptures for half an hour and reading preach my gospel for an hour the night before. The mission rules are tough to live in our world. No computers, phones, music, etc. Part of the deal was that they were supposed to write a letter to parents and to the Bishop. Here is Jake's letter to us:
Dear Dad and Mom,
I just want you to know that I love you. I'm really working on living mission rules and I really like the mission rules. I could live without T.V. but radio, that's a little hard. I love listening to music. I just want you to know that I'm going to do all I can to serve a full time and successful mission. I can't wait to go on my mission. I love you both very much. Love, Jake Mathews

So, for all the things you do, you get points and part of the reward is a spaghetti dinner. Quincy just says "I'm not wearing my church clothes to school and plus, I can just have you fix me a spaghetti dinner." He missed the point completely. Always so thankful for all the work others put into helping my boys, it really does take a village to raise a child.

Love the star wars tie!

Please keep blogging. I love looking at all the pictures and watching them grow up. They are becoming such great young men. Even the little one----even when he hoes the garden a little too extensively.
