Without hard work nothing would grow but weeds!

The title is appropriate today since I have been out weeding on and off for the last seven hours. Trav has been jumping his bike and Ty, sitting on the grass playing like the sweet little boy he is. My arms are shaking as I type this and I think I have heat exhaustion and I've barely made a dent in those noxious weeds. Broc also spent two hours on them yesterday. I think they grow 4 inches a day! While I was weeding my oldest came in and promised to weed with me if he could skip his piano practice. I thought that was a great idea, we could talk and get all the weeds pulled together. So much for that grand idea, he moved on quickly. He then promised to help Trav with his lemonade stand instead. So, while I was weeding he and Trav made 4 gallons of lemonade, sold it for 10 minutes, spilled it all over in the garage and wagon, left the chairs and table all over the front porch, let their fresh lemonade signs blow all over the grass and went to run in the sprinklers with the neighbors. Ahh, the joy's of parenting. My kids can read me like a book, they know when I am going to follow through and when they'll get away with whatever they want. I think they know Mom is tired when she calls all the neighbors seeking a caffeinated beverage.

Really, it doesn't get any better than parenting. All it takes after a messy lemonade stand is for one of them to walk in and say "I love you Mom, thanks for going for a bike ride with me," and my heart melts and I forget about all the chewed up socks and shoes in the backyard, the cheetos spilled all over the pantry, the black hole bedroom and bath (Trav and Jake) that never gets cleaned, the garbage that was supposed to be taken out but got stuffed in a corner in the garage instead, the lost library books, the endless dishes in the bonus room where they NEVER eat, the folded clothes I pull out of their hampers, the scooters that get run over, the eternal radio playing in the garage and out back that now gets turned on by the neighbors also, and the list goes on and on and on, kind of like this sentence.

The dog catcher is driving past my house very slowly, it's making me sweat, I can't think of anything illegal we've done to deserve this slow driving. I got pulled over the other night at 12:30 am but I probably deserved that one. Luckily I escaped a second degree misdemeanor and a ticket. Apparently proof of insurance should be more current than 2003, you shouldn't speed, you should wear shoes when you drive, carry your registration, and not be out so late on a Wednesday night coming home from book club. Oh please, who has time to obey the law :) Anyhoo, on with the evening, it's a beautiful life!

You are a great writer Ju! I laughed OUT LOUD... Life can be so crazy sometimes. But wouldn't it be too boring otherwise??
